I do not do my own urushi finishes anymore and have no plans to do so in the future. Thanks.
One coat on all the pens tonight. I forgot how much impact this has on the appearance of the pen. One coat has already made such a huge difference!

How many coats of urushi will go on these pens? Are you having any problems with the urushi sticking to the acrylic?
At least 10 coats, maybe more. No problems sticking to acrylic either. I only sanded them to 800 so the oil will have a nice rough surface to stick to. I may go less with the blue and gold pen so the pattern will still show up – it depends on what the customer would like.
